Women's Volleyball Falls to Yale in Straight Sets to Close Yale Invitational

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Sacred Heart University women's volleyball team fell to Yale in five sets (25-27, 13-25, 25-9) to close day two of the Yale Invitational Saturday evening. With the loss SHU falls to 4-8, while Yale improves to 4-5 on the season.

Sarah Ciszek led SHU with 18 assists, nine digs and seven kills, while Makayla Dole added seven kills.The Pioneers return to action Friday, Sept. 27, when SHU travels to take on St. Francis Brooklyn at 4 p.m. to open NEC play.

  • Yale jumped out to an early 10-6 lead

  • SHu fought back to cut the deficit to 13-11, capped by a kill from Reghan Palanchi

  • After Yale pushed the score to 17-12, SHU went on a 7-2 run to tie the contest at 19-19 to force a Yale timeout

  • Jillian Kim and Jasmine Rogers scored a kill apiece on the run

  • Trailing 23-21, Palanchi scored a kill to cut the SHU deficit to 23-22

  • With Yale leading 24-22, Makayla Dole recorded a kill to cut the deficit to 24-23

  • Trailing 25-24, Dole scored another kill to tie the contest at 25-25

  • Yale took the next two points to secure the set

SET 2 - Yale 25, SHU 13

  • The two sides played to a 4-4 tie

  • With SHU trailing 9-7, Yale went on a 14-6 run to take a 23-12 lead

  • Yale took two of the next three points to take the set

SET 3 - Yale 25, SHU 9

  • Yale opened the set with a 13-3 lead to force a SHU timeout

  • Out of the timeout, Yale closed the match with a 12-6 run
