SOMERSET, N.J. – Sacred Heart's Gaelyn Kattman has been recognized by the Northeast Conference as its female Rookie of the Week for cross country, following her performance at this past weekend's Nassaney Invitational.
Kattman set a new personal record with her time of 19:19.3 and was the first rookie from the NEC to cross the finish line, placing 39th overall out of 99 runners. The redshirt freshman was the 10th NEC runner to finish the five-kilometer race and helped SHU finish fourth out of 12 teams, the highest placement out of the six NEC teams at the meet. The award marks the first major weekly award for the women's cross country program this season.
The Pioneers' next race is scheduled for September 22 at CCSU's Ted Owen Invitational in New Britain.
