BOSTON, Mass. – The Sacred Heart women's cross country team placed in the top half of the NEICAAA XC Championships at Franklin Park in Boston on Saturday. The Pioneers took 11th place out of 24 school is a very deep field, finishing with a pair of runners in the top 50 overall of the 5K varsity race.
- For the second consecutive meet, Jacqueline Thorne and Olivia Weiss led the Sacred Heart pack, with Thorne (19:11.1) taking 42nd overall and Weiss (19:12.0) following right behind to her in 43rd.
- Junior Bianca De Lucia was third on the team (68th/19:29.3), followed by Tara Connelly (71st/19:30.9) and Emma Cary (81st/19:41.0) to round out the team's top five.
- First-year Gaelyn Kattman (88th/19:46.4) was sixth on the squad and sophomore Brigit Kelly (130th/20:39.9) completed the team's seven racers.
The Pioneers also had several runners compete in the sub-varsity race, with Bonnie Wilder (19:37.5) placing 29th overall to lead SHU. Gabrielle Vega (20:23.2), Emma Connolly (21:13.0), Delaney Kimball (21:13.2) and Brenna Thibodeau (21:15.5) represented SHU's top five.
The Pioneers will head north for their next meet on Saturday, Oct. 13 at the Vermont Fall Foliage Invitational in St. Albans, Vt.
