FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Sacred Heart University redshirt freshman Gaelyn Kattman has been named the Northeast Conference's Rookie of the Week for the fourth consecutive time, the league announced on Wednesday. Kattman helped the SHU women's cross country team take home second place on Saturday at the Vermont Fall Foliage Invitational.
Kattman placed 14th overall, fourth among Pioneer runners, and was the highest placing NEC rookie at the meet. She finished with a 5K personal record of 19:02.3. Kattman previously earned the same honor following her performances at the New England XC Championships on Oct. 6, as well as the Nassaney Invitational and the Ted Owen Invitational in September.
Additionally this week, juniors Jacqueline Thorne and Olivia Weiss were named NEC Prime Performers after placing seventh and eighth, respectively, at Saturday's meet. They were the Pioneers' top two finishers, and the NEC's top finishers.
