Box Score Leigh
Dogmanits (Walnutport, PA) found the back of the net with 33
seconds remaining in regulation as the Pioneer women's soccer team
came away with a 2-1 road victory at Mount St. Mary's. Heather
Quevillion (Dayville, CT) netted her third marker of 2010 early
in the second half to bring SHU level at 1-1 after falling behind
in the opening stanza. Freshman Alyssa
Brandofino (East Northport, NY) earned an assist on each of the
SHU goals bringing her season total to a team-high five.
Mount St. Mary's (3-9-3, 0-5-1 NEC) jumped out to a 1-0 lead
with 9:18 remaining in the first half on a marker from Sadie
Winship. The play was set up by a long pass from Andrea
Bujacich and Winship beat the SHU keeper for her second goal of the
year. Meghan
Reichelt (Selden, NY) finished the game with three saves to
pick up the victory in net for the Pioneers.
Sacred Heart (7-4-3, 3-1-1 NEC) would equalize the game just
over five minutes into the second period on a set piece play from a
corner kick. Brandofino swung a high ball into the center of
the box that Quevillion deposited into the twine to make to level
the match. The Pioneers earned the game winner on another
rehearsed play, this time coming from a free kick. Brandofino
again provided the service and the veteran Dogmanits punched in her
first game winner of the season to propel SHU to the 2-1 triumph
over the Mountaineers.
The victory moves the Pioneers to 3-1-2 in the last six contests
and 2-2-1 on the road this season. Sacred Heart continues its
road trip with another NEC game, taking on Monmouth at 1:00 pm
Sunday afternoon.
