Box Score (Lewisburg, PA) – Lindsay Kasten
(Fair Haven, NJ) scored two goals and Kim Stow (Norwalk, CT)
made 11 saves, but the Bucknell Bison beat the Sacred Heart Pioneer
field hockey team 4-3 in a stroke off Saturday afternoon.
Trailing 2-0 in the second half, the Pioneers struck twice
within 33 seconds to tie the game. Dana Luhrs (Milford,
PA) scored her second of the season unassisted on a bouncing ball
in front of the net at the 41:06 mark. Then, at the 41:39
mark, Kasten put in her first goal of the game off a feed from Chelsea
Carlson (Peterborough, NH).
The Bison took the lead once again at the 58:55 mark when Rachel
Misko's hard hit from the right found the back of the net.
However, the Pioneers went a man up after a yellow card to
Christine Weiss, and Kasten scored her second goal of the
game and third of the season with 5:54 remaining unassisted to once
again tie the game for SHU.
Stow made a save in the first overtime, then two in the second,
but in the stroke off, Taylor Seigrist and Corrine Raczak
both scored to seal the victory. Sacred Heart was unable to
solve Bison goalkeeper Sarah Zargarpourr, stopping both Leah Salindong
and Kasten after Alex Melillo
missed wide.
Zargarpour earned the win, making four saves and not allowing a
goal in 65 minutes in net, splitting time in goal with Erica
Perrine on the day.
The Pioneers jump right back into action Sunday afternoon at
1:00 p.m. when they travel to Lock Haven.
