Women's Hoops Loses Fourth Straight to Harvard 74-63

TEMPE, ARIZ. (December 8, 2013)—Gabrielle Washington (Mesa, Ariz.) led the game with 22 points Sunday afternoon as the Sacred Heart women's basketball team fell to Harvard University 74-63 in the Well Fargo Arena on the Campus of Arizona State University. Senior Ericka Norman (Chino Hills, Calif.) tied her career-high with 19 points shooting and impressive 55.6% from the field as SHU falls to 2-6 on the season.

The Pioneers held Harvard scoreless for nearly four minutes, while Hannah Kimmel (Harpursville, Penn.) and Adaysha Williams (LaCrosse, Wis.) combined for seven points to give SHU an early lead. The Crimson responded with eight unanswered points to take their first lead of the game.

With the Pioneers up 21-17, Harvard kicked off a seven-point run to reclaim the lead that they maintained until the halftime buzzer, going into the break leading 34-29.

Sacred Heart spent the entire second half chipping away finally minimizing the deficit to just nine points, 69-60, on a trey from Katie Shepard (Lone Tree, Colo.) with a minute left to play, but it wasn't enough as the Crimson added five more before the final buzzer.
