Box Score STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The Sacred Heart women's soccer team capped off its 2015 season Friday night with a 1-0 loss to the Wagner Seahawks at Hameline Field. The Pioneers finished the year 4-13-0 and 1-7-0 in the Northeast Conference.
Wagner (5-11-1) scored the only goal of the game in the 63rd minute. Sandra Battista one-touched a cross from Taylor Sackaris past Sacred Heart goalkeeper Talia Schwartz to give the Seahawks a 1-0 lead. Katie Vascardi made that lead hold up, making nine saves in the game for the clean sheet.
FIRST HALF
- Schwartz was called into action 12 seconds into the match, stopping a Battista shost. She also made a save on a Victoria Roda shot in the fourth minute.
- Wagner's Megan Fritz had a shot cleared off the goal line in the eighth minute.
- Lindsay Corallo had the Pioneers' first shot on goal in the 21st minute.
- Sacred Heart had four straight shots stopped by Vascardi in the 28th and 29th minutes.
- Melanie DaSilva had a shot on goal in the 36th minute.
- The Pioneers had seven shots on goal in the first half.
SECOND HALF
- Corallo had a shot saved four minutes into the second half.
- Marissa Christy put a shot wide of goal in the 78th minute.
- Emily Montgomery had a shot stopped by Vascardi in the 88th minute.
- Wagner outshot Sacred Heart 7-4 in the second half and 15-13 for the game.
