Box Score FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Sacred Heart women's soccer team took the lead after two minutes Sunday against the Fairleigh Dickinson Knights at Campus Field, but FDU scored three times in a span of four minutes on its way to a 4-2 win.
Sacred Heart (3-8-0, 0-2-0 NEC) scored 1:32 into the game when Alexis Parlato scored off of a Melanie DaSilva assist. FDU (8-5-0, 2-0-0 NEC) tied the game in the 14th minute as Elma Kolenovic knocked in the rebound of a Rachel Hoekstra shot. Hoekstra found the net herself two minutes later, finishing off a run up the left side of the field to give the Knights a 2-1 lead.
In the 18th minute, the Knights went ahead 3-1 on a Jessi Reinhardt tally. Hoekstra scored her second goal of the game in the 27th minute to put FDU up 4-1, a lead the Knights held through halftime. The Pioneers got back on the scoreboard in the 56th minute as Dana Cosmedy fired home a goal off of a Lindsay Corallo cross, to make the score 4-2. SHU outshot FDU 8-2 in the second half, but came no closer than the final two-goal margin.
The Pioneers go on the road next weekend for a pair of NEC games. Sacred Heart will take on Robert Morris on Friday, October 9 at 12:30 p.m.
FIRST HALF
- Parlato's goal was her second of the season. DaSilva's assist was the first of her career. It was the fastest goal the Pioneers have scored in 2015.
- Marissa Christy had a chance to give Sacred Heart the lead in the 16th minute, but FDU goalkeeper Felicia Burr made the save on her shot on goal.
- Talia Schwartz made a diving save on an Amanda Goulet shot in the 34th minute.
SECOND HALF
- Schwartz guided a Carly Tice shot over the crossbar in the 54th minute.
- Cosmedy's goal in the 56th minute was her team-leading fifth tally of the season.
- Corallo had a shot saved in the 74th minute
- Parlato hit the crossbar with a header in the 77th minute.
- Alex Mesropyan had a header saved by Burr in the 89th minute.
