The Sacred Heart University swim team dropped a non-conference dual meet, 156-138 at The College of Holy Cross on Saturday afternoon. The Pioneers outscored the Crusaders 138-124 in swimming events on the day.
Rookie Jessica Poole won three individual events, capturing the 100 and 200 breaststroke and the 200 IM. She also swam a leg on the 200 medley relay team that placed second.
SHU returns to action next Saturday with a dual meet at Assumption.
The Strokes
Poole won the 100 breaststroke in a season-best 1:10.77 and won the 200 breast by over five seconds, touching at 2:34.75.
Olivia Decas swam her best time of the year in winning the 100 backstroke (1:01.61)
Poole touched out Nina Sparre by .1, in the 200 IM finishing at 2:19.65
Anna Brown won the 200 backstroke in a time of 2:13.60, a season-best
The Distance Events
Jillian Crosby earned a win in the 500 freestyle at 5:26.58; eight seconds clear of the runner-up
Nicole Sauve was the Pioneers top finisher in the 1,000 free, touching second at 11:30.31 and was third in the 500 free (5:40.07)
Sprint Freestyle
Olivia Decas (55.96) earned a Pioneer win in the 100 freestyle, touching out teammate Caleigh Dion (56.35).
Crosby won the 200 freestyle, touching in a season-best 1:58.95
The Relays
Decas, Emily Shenk, Caleigh Dion and Jillian Crosby combined to win the 200 free relay, finishing in a season-best time of 1:42.88.
The Pioneers 200 medley relay squad of Brown, Poole, Siobhan Goodman and Decas placed second at 1:56.45
