Box Score NEW HAVEN, Conn. – For the second consecutive game, the Sacred Heart women's soccer team was shut out after a 4-0 loss to the Yale Bulldogs at Reese Stadium Tuesday night.
Yale (2-2-0) opened the scoring in the seventh minute. Michelle Alozie took advantage of miscommunication in the Sacred Heart (2-4-0) end, putting a Geneva Decker pass into an open net to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead. Six minutes later, Alozie headed in an Ally Grossman free kick to double Yale's lead. Alozie capped her hat trick in the 62nd minute, staking Yale to a 3-0 lead. The Bulldogs added one more goal in the final five minutes for the 4-0 win.
Sacred Heart returns home to Campus Field on Friday, September 18 for a 7 p.m. game against Iona.
FIRST HALF
- Talia Schwartz was called into action in the 4th minute, making a save on a Michelle Alozie shot
- Melanie DaSilva put a shot wide of goal in the fifth minute
- Two minutes after Alozie put Yale up 1-0, Schwartz made a save on a Keri Cavallo shot
- SHU's first shot on goal came in the 14th minute off the foot of Lindsay Corallo; Two minutes later, Alexis Parlato had a shot stopped by Yale goalkeeper Rachel Ames
SECOND HALF
- DaSilva and Marissa Christy both had a shot saved in the 53rd minute
- Schwartz made her first save of the second half as the clock hit the hour mark
- Parlato got behind the Yale defense in the 65th minute, but couldn't get a shot past Ames
