Box Score FAIRFIELD, CONN.- The Sacred Heart women's volleyball team has moved to 4-0 in NEC play and 11-6 overall after defeating the returning NEC Champions of Robert Morris in a dominant sweep 3-0. The Pioneers showed no weaknesses throughout the match with the closest of the sets being 21-25
SET 1- The first set of the game was opened right up after 8 consecutive serves from Allison Riggs which included one service ace that put the score 13-5 in favor of the Pioneers. Robert Morris then inched within six, until suffering a ball handling error that concluded the match 25-18 Pioneers.
SET 2- The second set of the match was the closest of the three for the Colonials. The match stood within three, with a score of 20-17, until the Pioneers lead by Makayla Dole, Maddie Losure, and Julia Murawinski who all added kills to close the match 25-21.
SET 3- The Pioneers ended the night leaving no doubt in the sweep with a score of 25-11. The Pioneers had stellar serving in the last set, Allison Riggs added two service aces, while Ana Gonzalez also tallied two service aces closing the match.
The Pioneers take the road this weekend as they take on Bryant on Saturday October 8th at 1:00pm, and Central Connecticut State Sunday October 9th at 1:00 pm.
