Women's Soccer Ties Brown, 0-0.

PROVIDENCE, R.I.—The Sacred Heart women's soccer team match played Brown to a 0-0 double overtime draw on Wednesday night.   

The Pioneers (2-4-3) lead the game with seven shots on goal to Brown's (4-1-3) five. The Bears took more shots on their home turf, with 27 to Sacred Heart's 20 over the 110 minutes. Sophomore goalkeeper Nicole Sambuco (Massapequa, N.Y.) picked up five saves in her third shutout of the season. Sophomore Alex Mesropyan (Mahwah, N.J.) led the offensive attack with seven shots. Right behind with six shots was freshman Olivia Crema (Litchfield, N.H.).

Sophomore Melanie DaSilva (Bristol, R.I.)  nearly got the Pioneers on the board early in the seventh minute, as her shot inside the box hit off the post. In the second half, Brown goalkeeper Christine Etzel nabbed the save in the 55th minute off of Crema's shot. Emily Dawidczyk (Oxford, Mass.) shot Sacred Heart's final attempt in double overtime, firing just wide of the left post from the top of the box. 

Sacred Heart return to Campus Field to take on Delaware State in their last non-conference contest on Saturday September 24 at 12:00pm. 

First Half

- DaSilva's shot hits off the post in the seventh minute.

- Kylie Roberts misses wide off Crema's corner kick in the 23rd minute.

- Terrie Wilken misses Brown's last attempt of the first half, wide with 30 seconds remaining.

Second Half

- Crema fires the first of the Pioneers twelve second half shots in the 48th minute. But it is saved by Etzel.

- Sambuco grabs her first of four saves in the second half at the 49-minute mark.

- Mesropyan has two shots blocked back-to-back by the Bears defense in the 55th minute.

- Etzel later snags down Crema's header attempt in the 61st minute.  

First OT

- Brown's only shot attempt from Carly Gould is blocked by Pioneers defense in the 98th minute.

- Mesropyan fires the final shot of the first overtime with 15 seconds remaining but its saved by Etzel.

Second OT

- Lindsay Corallo has her shot saved by Etzel in the 100th minute.

- Dawidczyk's final shot for the Pioneers misses just wide of the left post.

- Katy Schmidt has the final shot of the game with two seconds remaining miss wide for Brown.
