Box Score The Sacred Heart men's volleyball team took the crimson of Harvard at Malkin Center in Cambridge, Mass. The Pioneers fell 3-0, as they now sit 12-7 on the season, and 5-3 in the EIVA. SHU was led by Christopher DeLucie who tallied 13 kills on the day. The Pioneers are back in action as they take on George Mason in a double header next weekend.
SET 1-
- SHU jumped to an early lead, 3-1 after a pair of attack errors, and a Bobby Costigan kill
- Each team would go on to exchange point for point till the score was tied up at 15-15. The Crimson would go on to rattle of three points and take a small advantage, but Michael Comens would stall the momentum with a kill of his own
- Although SHU would close the match within one at the close, Harvard would take the opening set 25-23
SET 2-
- Each team came out firing in the second set as the score stood 6-6 to start the second set
- The Crimson would go on a 6-2 run to put the Pioneers at a 12-8 advantage, forcing SHU to take a timeout. The timeout would pay off as Harvard would return with a service error
- Harvard would find their rhythm, as they jumped to a 24-11 lead, as they would go on to take the second set 25-12
SET 3-
- In similar fashion the third set would start off with each time locked at 6-6, till SHU would jump to a 8-6 advantage following a DeLucie kill
- The Crimson and Pioneers would battle back and forth till the score was again tied at 19-19
- A late Harvard rally would result in a 25-21 defeat of the Pioneers and solidify the 3-0 sweep
