Box Score 2 LYNCHBURG, Va,— The Sacred Heart University softball team dropped a pair of contests to the Liberty University on Monday afternoon.
The Flames (13-6) picked up a 5-0 win in game one before edging the Pioneers (4-5) 2-0 in the game two to earn the sweep at LU Softball Stadium. The Pioneers will return to action on Wednesday Mar. 6 when SHU faces Western Carolina. First-pitch is set for 3:00 p.m.
Game One – Liberty 5, SHU 0
The Scoring…
- Bottom of the 1st inning… A fielders choice would score in the opening run as the Liberty runner scored in from third to put the Flames up 1-0. A throwing error later on in the inning would score in the teams second run of the inning to put Liberty up 2-0.
- Bottom of the 5th inning... An 2 RBI single would put the Flames up 4-0 heading into the sixth inning.
- Bottom of the 6th inning.... A wild pitch would score in Amber Bishop from third base to make the final score of the game 5-0.
The Numbers…
- Liberty outhit the Pioneers as the Flames tallied eight hits while SHU only knocked in two.
- The two hits would come off the bats of senior Hailey Desrosiers and junior Katelyn Christian.
- Kristen McCann would tally the loss for the Pioneers as she went six innings giving up four earned runs on eight hits with five strikeouts.
Game Two: Liberty 2, SHU 0

- Bottom of the 2nd inning… A two run single to center field by Autum Bishop would score in two to put the Flames up 2-0.
The Numbers…
- The Pioneers were held to just three hits as Liberty was also halted to just three on the day as well.
- Shyanne Fennell surrendered just three hits, with two runs and struck out two in the five innings she pitched.
