NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – It looked like the Sacred Heart University women's volleyball team was going to roll to another sweep of Central Connecticut State. The Pioneers had to stave off a Blue Devil comeback for the 3-2 (25-20, 25-19, 23-25, 19-25, 15-13) win on Friday.

Sacred Heart hit .450 in the first two sets to grab a 2-0 lead. Unfortunately, the offense sputtered and CCSU was able to force a fifth set.

The Pioneers found themselves down 11-8 in the fifth set but rattled off five-straight points. Middle blocker
Mackenzie Eford led the charge as she had two solo blocks and a combined block during the run.Â

Dominique Felix as well as a Rogers' ace allowed SHU to go on a 4-0 run to take the first set. The Pioneers did not commit an attacking error in the set as they hit .630.

Olivia Fairchild's team-high 14. Rogers produced a 10-kill, 13-dig double-double. Setter
Sarah Ciszek just missed a triple double with 44 assists, 10 digs and nine kills as well as five blocks.
