Over a week since its last game, the Sacred Heart University men's basketball team is back in action on Tuesday, November 30 when they head to NJIT for a 7 p.m. meeting on ESPN3.

OPENING TIP

  • Sacred Heart looks to snap a two-game losing streak after a buzzer-beating three handed the Pioneers a heartbreaking 75-72 loss at Stony Brook.
  • The Pioneers and Highlanders meet for the first time in program history on Tuesday night.
  • Senior Aaron Clarke has made it known that he's back in the rotation for the Red & White as he led the team in scoring in the last two outings. He first erupted for a season-high 21 points before adding 18 at Stony Brook.
  • Tuesday's game marks the first of a seven-game road stretch for the Pioneers. SHU will not play another home game until December 22 when they host Hartford.

TURNING THE AC ON
Aaron Clarke has been crucial in SHU's success this season. After sitting out for three games earlier this season (Providence, Binghamton and Fisher), Clarke led the Pioneers in scoring in back-to-back games, including a season-high 21 points vs. Fairfield. Clarke is now SHU's second-leading scorer averaging 16 points per game.

OKAY NICO
Sophomore Nico Galette has seen a well-deserved increase in minutes since his rookie season. Galette has started in every game so far this season and continuously sets new career-highs. The Rahway, N.J. product posted a career-best 18 points, 18 rebounds against Fisher for his first double-double. Galette didn't stop there as he grabbed his second at Stony Brook with 11 points and a team-high 14 rebounds. The six-foot-six forward is the conference leader on the boards averaging 9.3 a game including three a night on the offensive glass.

CRASHING THE BOARDS
Sacred Heart has posted top rebounding marks as they rank 38th in the country with 29.33 defensive rebounds per game and 34th at 41.67 total rebounds per game. Rebounding has showed a direct impact on the team's outcome as they are 2-1 when outrebounding their opponent, and 0-3 on the latter. The Pioneers show a +7.0 rebound margin which is second in the NEC. SHU's top rebounder, Nico Galette, ranks 34th in the country in rebounds per game (9.3).
