Box Score 2 FAIRFIELD, Conn.- Home softball in February began for the Sacred Heart University softball team as the Pioneers dropped both opening games to Lehigh 10-1 (6) and 8-1 this afternoon.

Score: Lehigh 10, SHU 1 (6 innings)
Of Note
- First-year Emily Carroll put the Pioneers ahead 1-0 in the bottom of the second with her first career hit and first career homer as she belted one to left field.
- After the Pioneers' early lead, the rest of the scoring came from Lehigh as a four-run top half of the third which included a three-run home-run would put the Mountain Hawks right back in lead at 4-1.
- A two-run homer in the fifth followed by a three-run sixth inning would give Lehigh the 10-1 victory in six innings.
- SHU was held to just four hits in the opening game with two coming off the bat of Emily Carroll.

Of Note
- Lehigh jumped on the board first in the second game with a three-run double by Brooke Cannon to put Lehigh ahead 3-0 in the top of the second inning.
- Junior Alyssa Gonzalez answered in the bottom half of the inning with her first homer of the season to narrow the Lehigh lead to 3-1.
- Then the Mountain Hawks began to pull away in the top of the fourth as they scored two more runs off an RBI triple and run scored off a steal to give Lehigh a 5-1 lead.
- After a scoreless bottom half for SHU in the fourth Lehigh tacked on three more runs off a two-RBI triple followed by an RBI single to second to give Lehigh the 8-1 victory.
