Of Note:
The game turned in the second quarter when Merrimack ended the half on a 7-1 run. Aidan Burke scored three minutes into the frame to cut the margin to 4-3 but the Warriors scored the next seven for a 10-4 halftime advantage.
SHU worked its way back into the game, outscoring Merrimack 4-1 in the third quarter then twice getting within a pair of goals in the fourth.
Drew Edwards' scored his team-high fourth goal at the 6:59 mark of the final quarter to make it 12-10.
The Pioneers had their chances to further reduce the lead, but Merrimack goalkeeper Henry Vogt stopped all the shots.
Merrimack had the advantage in grounds balls (31-23) and shots (43-30).
