NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y.— The Sacred Heart University men's soccer team came up short in a 2-0 loss at Iona on Wednesday afternoon.
The Pioneers are now 0-6-2 while the Gaels move to 2-3-1.
Camil Azzam Ruiz connected on an assist from Lenworth Lopez to give Iona the 1-0 lead in
the 21:34 mark. Lopez extended the lead at the 86-minute mark, awarding the assist to Thiago Cagna.
Goalkeeper
Justin Siegel made five saves off 18 Iona shots.
Grady Kozak,
Nick Kirby and
William Rakkenes notched one shot apiece, as Kozak tallied the lone shot on goal.
The Pioneers begin conference play at Fairleigh Dickinson on Sunday at 7 p.m.
