FAIRFIELD, Conn.— The Sacred Heart University men's soccer team was back home on Thursday against
Northeast Conference leader Long Island. The Pioneers came up short against the Sharks, 2-0.
Sacred Heart drops to 0-7-3 while LIU improves to 6-2-2.
The Sharks opened up the scoring
in the 41
st minute as Emil Jaaskelainen scored off the service from Jeremy Guardado and Alan Martinez for the initial lead.
Henry Haferkorn whipped in a goal off a corner kick from Javier Rehberger at 54:51 to give LIU a two-goal cushion.
The Pioneers took 10 shots and placed three on target, while the Sharks tallied 14 with 10 on goal.

Grady Kozak and
Etienne Murugarren attempted one shot apiece.
LIU led in corner opportunities, 7-4.
