Pioneers Fall 6-0 at Yale in First Game of 2022

Frankie Sanchez stopped 47 in between the pipes

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — After a delayed restart to the second half of the season, the Sacred Heart University women's ice hockey team dropped a 6-0 contest at Yale in their first game of the New Year on Tuesday.

Halfway through the first period, the Bulldogs slapped the puck in for the eventual game-winning goal. The home team would go on to tally three more in the second, including one off a powerplay and two in the final period.

Goalkeeper Frankie Sanchez racked up 47 saves for her third-highest save percentage of the season, .916. Behind the blueline, the Pioneers stopped 22 shots with four blocks from co-captain Kelly Solak.

Nicole Guidi and co-captain Anna Klein accounted for seven of the Sacred Heart's 17 shots.

SHU returns to conference play when it travels to Franklin Pierce on January 21, with a 7:30 p.m. puck drop.
