FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Sacred Heart University fencing held their annual invitational Sunday, hosting seven schools that included two Ivy League teams and competitors such as NYU, PSU, NJIT, Vassar and Temple.
- During the SHU/ Vassar round, the men's saber squad contributed seven wins for the Pioneers with Mateo Villarreal and Vijay Ganta contributing two wins each
- Jacob Bartel also went 2-1 against the Brewers
- Jeffrey Palma was the only epeeist to win a bout against Harvard with a 5-3 bout score finish
- David Belluomo was able to go 2-1 against PSU
- First-Year Connor Loth was able to earn a single win for the Pioneers alongside Villarreal, Ganta, and Domenic Bartolo against NJIT
- Patrick Simpson contributed two wins for the Pioneers against NJIT
- The epee squad was able to contribute six wins for the Pioneers, with Palma, Simpson, and Connor Kravit all winning two bouts against the Bobcats of NYU
