WEST POINT, N.Y.- There was no better way to conclude the 2021-22 regular season for the Sacred Heart University men's ice hockey team. The Pioneers came-back from a four goal deficit to tie the game up at 3-3 and eventually prevailed in the shootout over Army West Point on Saturday.

Of Note:
- Army took a commanding 3-1 lead at the end of the first period as John Jaworski was the lone Pioneer to score in the period which came 5:52 into the game.
- SHU started a comeback in the second period strong with a goal off the stick of Nick Boyagian 13:04 into the period to narrow the Army lead to 3-2.
- The Black Knights had different thoughts about that comeback as they tallied three unanswered goals to take a strong 6-2 lead 10:21 into the period.
- Then the Pioneer dominance came through as Todd Goehring led off the comeback in the final minutes of the second with his second goal of the series coming 18:11 into the period.
- In the third period, SHU followed with three more unanswered goals coming off the sticks of Braeden Tuck (9:16), Todd Goehring (13:12) and with six minutes left in regulation Neil Shea (13:57) to even the score up at 3-3 and sending the game into overtime.
- After a scoreless three-on-three overtime, the game went into a shootout where Goehring scored the lone goal in the three rounds to seal the extra point.
- This is biggest comeback the Pioneers have had since 2017 when they came back against Notre Dame when they trailed after two-periods and won 6-4.

The Pioneers now await who they will play in the quarterfinal round of the Atlantic Hockey Association playoffs as they secured a first round bye in Friday's 5-2 victory.
