St. John's tallied two runs in the bottom of the first to take the, 3-1, lead. The Red Storm remained hot with four more runs in the next frame.
In the fifth inning,
Joe Emerson homered down the left field line for his first this season and second of his career.
St. John's padded its lead with eight runs across the fifth, seventh and eighth innings.
