ORLANDO, Fla. – The Sacred Heart University men's and women's tennis teams both fell to Radford, 7-0, in its first day competing in the Sunshine State.
The women move to a 7-9 overall record while the men are now 3-8.
All six of the men's single competitors fell in straight sets. On the women's side,
Vitalina Golod and
Ciara O'Toole each forced third set matches. After dropping the first set, 6-0, Golod came back and outlasted her opponent, 7-5, in the second. Radford's Malin Falk ultimately took the match in the third set at third singles. In second singles, O'Toole started off hot and took the first set, 6-3, before falling, 6-1, and 10-6.
Both
William Wibmer and his doubles parent
Lefteri Apostolou, as well as
Kim Fenton and Golod, dropped tight 7-5 matches at first and second doubles.
Both teams are back in action against Creighton tomorrow. The men will face the Blue Jays at 11:30 a.m. while the women are set for 3 p.m.
