HARTFORD, Conn. — With a change of scenery at the Dunkin' Donuts Park, the Sacred Heart University baseball team lost 14-6 to in-state opponent Central Connecticut State on Saturday.

For a team-leading fifth home run of the season,
Sam Mongelli cranked one out to left field line to bring
Justin Jordan home for his second run of the day in the bottom of the eighth inning. Mongelli went three for four with two runs, a homer and a pair of RBIs.
Through the first two frames, the Blue Devils recorded five runs to take an early lead.
Mark Smith singled to left field to allow
Michael Hernandez to score in bottom of the second to put the Pioneers on the board.Â
CCSU padded their lead with six more runs across the fourth and fifth innings before the Pioneers' three-run inning in the bottom of the fifth cut the deficit to seven. Jordan crossed the plate in the fifth off
Joe Emerson's single to centerfield. Emerson then came home after
George Sutherland reached first base on a fielder's choice. One batter later with the bases loaded,
Dante D'amore walked to allow Mongelli to cross the plate.
Emerson went two of five with a run and an RBI.
In the sixth, seventh and eighth innings, Central tallied one run apiece for the final 14-6 score.
Sacred Heart had 14 hits but couldn't capitalize as they stranded 10 Pioneers. On the other side of the field, CCSU connected for 17 hits and left 13 on base.
Jack Bebbington took the mound in the final inning to face four batters and retired three to end the game.
