FAIRFIELD, Conn.— The Sacred Heart University women's lacrosse team closed out the 2022 season Saturday with an 18-6 win against Saint Francis on Senior Day.

Of Note
After Saint Francis took the 2-1 lead in the first quarter,
Emma Kittredge flipped the ball into the net to spark a 4-0 run that gave Sacred Heart the 5-2 lead at the 8:56 mark in the second.
Lydia Werlau tallied four-straight goals that stretched to the 13:14 mark of the third quarter and gave the Pioneers a nine-point cushion they would not relinquish.
The senior finished the contest with a season-high eight goals. Kittredge matched her career-high of four goals while
Grace Reinold registered three goals and team-high three assists.
Claire McElhenny picked up the 150th draw control of her career.
SHU dominated in all phases of the game, holding the advantage in shots (37-14), ground balls (19-10) and draw controls (19-8).
Sacred Heart was one spot shy of missing the Northeast Conference Tournament. Head coach
Laura Korutz has a lot of shoes to fill with seven seniors. She does return players in Kittredge,
Sydney Colesworthy,
Mikala Eacrett, and top goalie
Bella Beaton.
