FAIRFIELD, Conn.— The Sacred Heart University men's soccer team came up short in its season opener against Siena, 1-0, on Thursday.
The Saints got on the board with a goal from Jesper Schone Vogtengen in the 20th minute.
Sacred Heart took 10 shots and placed three on target while Siena recorded nine with three on goal.
David Garcia Gallego led the Pioneers with three shots, including two on frame.
Sacred Heart also led the contest in corner opportunities, 3-0.
The Pioneers head north for their first road contest at UMass on Monday at 4 p.m.
