MILFORD, Conn. – On Saturday the Sacred Heart University and Central Connect State swimming & diving teams wrapped up their two-day meet. The Pioneers fell to the Blue Devils, 248- 105, at McCann Natatorium.
The Pioneers opened the day by placing second in the 200 medley relay. The team of
Casey Barrett, Rose Nieto,
Emma McCall and
Kelly Bartnett hit the wall in at 1:51.86
SHU had two of the top three swimmers in the 200 yard breaststroke. Nieto was second at 2:31.74 while
Ella Krikorian produced a season-best time of 2:32.52.
The one-meter diving saw three Pioneers in the top five. Oliva McNicholas was just edged out for second with a score of 219.38 Following up her winning three-meter performance on Friday,
Lola Barrett took fourth.
A trio of swimmers finished third in their events.
Emma Chambers touched in at 4:44.59 in the 400 individual medley. Barrett was a third-place finisher in the 200 backstroke while Ash Ayala touched in a 1:01.70 to take third in the 100 butterfly.
Sacred Heart is back at home next Saturday to take on St. Francis Brooklyn at 12:30 p.m.
