Nico Galette recorded his 1,000th career point to lead the Sacred Heart University men's basketball team to an 89-75 victory over Binghamton at home on Tuesday morning. Galette led five players in double figures for the Pioneers.

Galette had 15 points in the first half alone to give the Pioneers a commanding 48-31 lead at halftime. At 13:18, Binghamton knocked down a three-pointer to come within one, as SHU led 12-11. The Pioneers answered as
Raymond Espinal-Guzman sparked a 9-0 run with a layup and a made free throw off an and-one situation to give the Pioneers a 21-11 advantage.
The Bearcats pulled within six with 7:49 left in the half, but Sacred Heart would not let that last long as the Pioneers went on a 10-0 run to take a 33-17 lead, highlighted by Galette's 1,000th career point.
A layup by Sobel would put SHU ahead 42-21 with 4:06 left in the half. SHU maintained the lead for the 48-31 halftime score.
Binghamton used a run midway through the second to chip away at the Pioneers lead.
Aidan Carpenter knocked down a three at 17:45 in the second half to give SHU another 20-point lead, 55-35. A layup for Binghamton at 11:33 brought the Bearcats within 10. However, the Pioneers scored the next six points to extend the lead, 69-53.
Binghamton went on a 14-3 run to pull the Bearcats within five, 72-67, with 5:50 left in the half. Thomas answered with a three, followed by a Reilly jumper to get the Pioneers back up by 10 with just under five minutes.
Sacred Heart scored seven points in the final two minutes to secure the win, 89-75. The Pioneers shot 55.9% from the field. Galette went 9-of-11 from the field en route to his third 20-point game of the season.
