FAIRFIELD, Conn.—
Nico Galette scored a team-high 13 points to lead the Sacred Heart University men's basketball in an 85-50 road loss to St. John's on Wednesday evening at the Carnesecca Arena.

Alex Sobel gave the Pioneers a quick start, jumping ahead off his first layup of the game. St. John's scored the following six points to take a 6-2 lead at 16:31. McGee knocked down a three-pointer to pull SHU within one, 6-5, at 16:04. The Red Storm made a layup at 15:45, but McGee answered again for the Pioneers to bring SHU within one, once again 8-7, at 15:18.
St. John's went on a 10-0 run to extend its advantage, 18-7.
Mike Sixsmith made a three at 11:34 that sparked a 7-1 run for SHU, capped by a
Raymond Espinal-Guzman layup to cut the Pioneers deficit to five, 19-14, at 10:20. The Red Storm were able to put away the next six to lead by 10 with 9:42 left in the half.
Galette made two free throws to pull SHU within eight, but St. John's put the half away with a 47-26 advantage heading into the break.
St. John's had back-to-back layups to open the second half, but Sobel and McGee added the next three for SHU to get the Pioneers started. However, the Red Storm had a strong second half and outscored the Pioneers 38-24 to take the 85-50 final.
Galette tallied his seventh game in double figures, and Sobel had a game-high four blocks.
