Pioneers Host FDU on Thursday

Sacred Heart will be home for the next three games

FAIRFIELD, Conn.-The Sacred Heart University men's basketball team returns to the Pitt Center to kick off three consecutive home Northeast Conference games as the regular season begins to wind down. The Pioneers host Fairleigh Dickinson on Thursday, February 16th, at 7:00 PM. Sacred Heart is 13-14 overall and 6-6 in conference play. The Knights are 15-12 overall and 8-4 in the NEC.

Opening Tip:
  • Sacred Heart and Fairleigh Dickinson meet for the second time this season in Northeast Conference action. The Pioneers won 92-85 on the road on January 20th. In the victory, Bryce Johnson had a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Joey Reilly led the scoring with a career-high 29 points. Five players scored in double figures for the Pioneers.
  • SHU dropped its last game on the road last Thursday, February 9th, at Saint Francis University, 78-76 in overtime.
  • Nico Galette has scored in double figures in every game but one this season, as he leads the team with 15.9 points per game. Reilly is second on the team in scoring (11.7), and Raheem Solomon is third (11.1).
  • Johnson has eight double-doubles this season, Galette has four, and Tanner Thomas has one. Johnson leads the team in rebounds, 7.9 per game, and Galette is second with 7.0.
  • Johnson leads the NEC in defensive rebounds with 168 and is fifth overall in the NEC in re-bounds with 214. Galette is right behind at seventh overall with 188.
  • Junior Kenneth Womack, a starter on the SHU football team, has been coming in off the bench recently for SHU basketball this season, averaging 11.1 minutes per game.
  • This season, Galette earned NEC Player of the Week once and has been an eight-time Prime Performer.
  • Head Coach Anthony Latina is in his 10th season as the head coach of Sacred Heart.
  • Galette was named to the All-NEC preseason team.
  • Sacred Heart was tabbed second in the NEC preseason poll.
