BROOKVILLE, N.Y.— With a team effort on defense, the Sacred Heart University women's lacrosse team earned a share of the Northeast Conference Regular Season Championship with a 7-6 win at LIU on Saturday.

LIU scored at the 6:24 mark but sophomore
Maci Black's goal with 33 seconds left kept SHU in front going into the fourth.
The Sharks tallied back-to-back goals to make it a one-score game, 7-6. LIU had a chance at the free position with 31 seconds left in attempts to tie the game, but graduate student
Claire McElhenny was there to cause the turnover to help the Pioneers secure the victory.
McElhenny won a career-high 10 draw controls. Graduate student
Lydia Werlau notched a goal to tie with Carissa Hauser for the Division I program record in points. Sophomore
Lisa Martin collected a season-high 11 saves.
