How It Happened:
The opening set featured back-and-forth action, as the score sat tied at 8-all through the first 16 points. UConn pulled ahead from there with a 4-0 run, with the Pios answering with a 3-0 surge to make the score 12-11 Huskies. UConn added to its advantage over the following 10 points, taking a 19-14 lead later in the match. Sacred Heart got as close as three, 19-16, but ultimately fell by a 25-18 final score.

SHU stormed out of the gates in the second set, winning the first four points. Gaby Zovko tallied two service aces over the early push. UConn began to chip at the lead, but a Pios' 4-2 run forced a home team timeout with the visitors up 12-9. A 5-1 run by the home team gave them a 14-13.

With the score tied at 14-14, the two teams began to trade points for the remainder of the second set. The score stayed within one for the next 27 points, with SHU having three set points. Unfortunately for the Pioneers, the Huskies answered all three set points on their way to winning the set 29-27.

The Pioneers took an early lead again in the third period, going up 3-0 to start and 10-5 after 15 points. UConn began to cut into the deficit, but SHU remained ahead 18-14 following the visitors' 3-0 run. Unfortunately for the Pios, UConn retaliated by winning nine of the following 12 points to take a 23-21 advantage. SHU took a couple of the next points but dropped the set 25-23 and the match 3-0.

Zovko recorded her fourth double-double of the young season with 21 assists and 12 digs. Camryn Luginbuhl again led the Pios' offense, tallying a season-high 12 kills against the Huskies with nine digs. Tonight, Luginbuhl crossed the 300-kill threshold with 308 as a Pioneer. Rogers and Jessica Foss also tallied double-digit digs with 13 and 11, respectively. Rogers also reached a milestone, as she now has 1,001 career digs at SHU.
