FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University women's volleyball team suffered its first home loss of the season on Sunday afternoon against Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) foe Siena, falling in three sets at the William H Pitt Center.
Camryn Luginbuhl led the way for SHU on offense with 16 kills, her 13th straight match with double-digit kills. She also finished with seven digs, which was second on the team.
Miliani Villarreal led the Pios with 17 digs.
Gaby Zovko ended the day with 28 assists, seven kills, six digs and four aces, as she was all over the court.

How It Happened:
The Pioneers and Saints exchanged sustained runs at the start of the first set before the score sat tied at 8-8. The teams then started to trade points until SHU took an 18-16 advantage following a 6-0 surge. Unfortunately for the Pios, a 5-0 spurt by the Saints helped the visitors win nine of the final 14 points in the frame to secure a 25-23 win.
Siena rode the first-set momentum to a quick 13-4 lead in the second, forcing a SHU timeout. The Pioneers fought back to cut the deficit to four on multiple occasions, but the Saints held on to secure a 25-19 win.
Sacred Heart bounced back quickly in the third, winning six of the first seven points in the frame. The resilient Saints were ready with another answer, taking a 10-8 lead on the back of a 9-2 surge. The Pios fought back to tie the score a couple of times, securing a 21-19 advantage with a 5-2 surge late. Unfortunately for the Pioneers, Siena had all the answers today, winning five of the final six points to secure a sweep with a 27-25 victory in the third.
