LORETTO, Pa. – The Sacred Heart University softball team suffered an 8-0 loss to Northeast Conference (NEC)- leading Saint Francis on Sunday in the finale of the two teams' weekend series.

Of Note:
After a scoreless first two innings, SFU broke onto the scoreboard with four runs in the bottom of the third.
Saint Francis built on its advantage in the bottom of the fifth, scoring four more runs to take the afternoon game, 8-0, in five innings.
The Pioneers had solid chances to score in both the second and third innings, with runners in scoring position in both frames. This included a single and a steal from
Jenna Mowad in the third. Unfortunately for SHU, SFU stater Grace Vesco worked her way out of both jams to earn the victory.
Emily Heath and
Sam Kowalski saw time in the circle for SHU this afternoon. Heath started while Kowalski entered in relief. Both Pioneers finished with two strikeouts in their appearances.
