Philadelphia, Pa. – Junior Chaissen Costello led the Sacred Heart men's fencing team as they opened the 2025-26 season at the 2025 Nikki Franke Classic hosted by Temple University at the Liscouras Center.
Costello opened up his season as a trophy finalist, with a fifth place finish in foil and was one of four Pioneers in the event, including first-year Trey Plastaras who also finished among the top-16 with a 15th place finish overall.
In epee, Declan McAdoo was the lone Pioneer to compete, finishing 4-0 in the opening round and 31 in the second round before coming up short in the round of 64 in overtime. A pair from Sacred Heart competed in saber with Jonathan Morales and Oliver Lindholm who each won their first bouts in the round of 64 before coming up short in the round of 32.
Men's Fencing will return to action this coming weekend at The Big One hosted by Smith College in Northampton, Mass.
