How it Happened:
- The Pioneers came out of the gates firing when Morgan Bovardi nearly scored in the third minute of the game, but great defense stopped an early opportunity.
- From there, Sacred Heart took control after constantly peppering shots at the net from Theanna Burnett, Rylee McGee, MacLaren Richards, Shea Kelleher, and finally Morgan Bovardi.
- The pressure paid off when Bovardi was able to find the back of the net in the 24th minute off a Kelleher assist.
- Sacred Heart's stellar defense was able to keep the score at 1-0 for the remainder of the half, where they allowed zero shots on goal.
- Half number two was a similar story, where the Pioneers constantly kept putting themselves in a position to score, but this time around, they just couldn't convert.
- The second half followed a similar script, with Sacred Heart maintaining possession and continuing to create scoring chances. They couldn't extend their lead, but the defense however, remained flawless keeping Mount St. Mary's without a single shot on goal for the full 90 minutes to secure the 1-0 shutout victory.
