Field Hockey Drops Non-Conference Game to Yale

Pioneers Hold No. 16 Bulldogs Scoreless in Second Half

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University field hockey team dropped a 2-0 non-conference decision to No. 16 Yale on Sunday afternoon at Johnson Field.

Of Note:
After a scoreless opening quarter, Yale capitalized with a pair of second-period goals to take a 2-0 lead into halftime.

Sacred Heart's defense settled in from there, holding the Bulldogs scoreless over the final 30 minutes behind a strong effort from goalkeepers Butler and Cooper, who combined for six saves throughout the game.

The Pioneers registered five total shots, including four on target, and earned two penalty corners. Despite consistent pressure in the second half, Sacred Heart could not find a way past Yale's goalkeeper, who recorded a shutout with four saves.

Yale finished with a 19-5 advantage in shots and an 11-2 edge in penalty corners.
