How It Happened
Sacred Heart trailed by as many as 15 points in the opening half and spent several minutes facing a double-digit deficit. The Pioneers found momentum late in the frame, however. Down 12, Dashon Gittens converted a tip-in layup to ignite a 7–2 run, trimming the margin to four, 31–27, at halftime.
Nyle Ralph-Beyer sparked Sacred Heart early in the second half. After Towson opened the period with a layup, the sophomore completed an and-one and followed with a three-pointer on the next possession, scoring six straight points to tie the game at 33–33.
A driving layup by Jaden Slaughter moments later gave the Pioneers their first lead of the afternoon, 35–33. The teams traded baskets over the next several minutes, with neither side leading by more than two until a Ralph-Beyer three put Sacred Heart ahead 41–37.
Towson responded with a decisive 14–0 run to seize a 51–41 advantage at the 11-minute mark of the second half. Taj Bryant converted a layup to cut the deficit to eight, but the Pioneers were unable to get back within single digits the rest of the way.
