COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Sacred Heart University baseball team fell to the University of South Carolina in seven innings, 14-0, in game two of the series on Saturday afternoon.
Tim McGuire tallied SHU's lone hit of the day in the second on an infield single to the pitcher.

How it Happened:
South Carolina got things started in the first, putting up three runs. Nathan Hall singled to third base. With an out and two runners on K Jones reached on a Pio error. A walk from
Elijah Foster brought in Hall for the first run unearned. Nawrocki flew out to right field bringing in another run. With two outs, a wild pitch walked Dalton Mashore but also brought in LeCroy for the third run.
The Gamecocks tallied two runs in the third. With one out and runners on second and third, Mashore secured a sac fly to right field bringing in LeCroy. Scobey reached on a single to third bringing Nawrocki home to make it 5-0.
With no outs in the fourth with runners on the corners, Ethan Petry secured a two-run double for the Gamecocks.
Trent Price came in for the Pioneers and forced two flyouts, one bringing in Petry. With bases loaded and two outs, Scobey secured a base hit to short stop. Jase Woita came in the game to pinch hit for Hall and drove in two runs with a single for the 11-0 lead.
With no outs and two runners on, pinch hitter Ryan Bakes grounded out to second bringing in a run. Similarly, Cayden Gaskin grounded out to third bringing in the 13
th run of the day.
In the bottom of the sixth with bases loaded and two outs,
Chris Mazza walked Bakes to tack on another run for the Gamecocks extending their lead to 14.
Relief pitcher Ryder Garino struck out the side in the seventh to finish the game.
The Pioneers and Gamecocks have one last go tomorrow at 12 p.m.
