Women’s Hockey Falls 1-0 to Post in Regular Season Finale

NEWHA quarterfinal series starts Friday at Martire

SHELTON, Conn. - The Sacred Heart women's hockey team wrapped up regular season play with another strong defensive effort. Unfortunately for the Pioneers, Post was also quite stingy. The result was a 1-0 Post victory at the Sports Center of Connecticut. The only goal of the game came midway through the first period.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Brooke Larsen's first career goal was the game-winner. It came at 9:32 of the first period.

• The Pioneers played a strong third period, outshooting Post 13-8. Hannah Saunders, though, was outstanding in goal for the Eagles. She made 27 saves, including 13 in the third, to post the shutout.

• Sacred Heart had three power plays in the third period but was unable to capitalize. The final one late in the period was cut short when the Pioneers were whistled for a penalty. SHU was then called for another penalty which thwarted any hope of a comeback.
