FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Sacred Heart University's head women's wrestling coach Paulina Biega has been appointed as a coach for the U23 Women's Wrestling Pan-American Team ahead of the 2025 Pan-American Championships in Queretaro, Mexico. 

The Pan-American Championship is set to take place from April 10-12, gathering the best young talent from across the Americas to compete in a highly anticipated showdown of athleticism, strength, and skill.

Biega, who has made a significant impact here at Sacred Heart, has consistently demonstrated her coaching excellence, mentoring her wrestlers to national recognition. Her appointment to lead the U23 Pan-American team is a testament to her expertise and commitment to the sport of wrestling, both at the collegiate and international levels. 

"I am very grateful for another opportunity to assist our U23 national team in the Pan-Am Championship," Coach Biega shared upon receiving the news. "I will do my best to help those young ladies succeed as they step on the mats in Mexico this upcoming April! I am also very excited for another chance to grasp international wrestling and bring the knowledge and experience I gain back here to SHU!"

Last year, Biega was elected to work with the U20 Women's Wrestling World Team as well as members of the Senior National Team members, who competed at the 2024 Grand Prix of Spain.
