How it Happened:
Although Merrimack opened the scoring early in the first period with a goal from Brooke Brennan, the Pioneers quickly showed their resilience. They responded with an unassisted goal from
Erin Herrold, leveling the score, and from that moment on, they dominated the game.
Sacred Heart took complete control in the second period, netting five unanswered goals. Insinga struck twice while Araneo added two of her own, showcasing the team's collective effort. Tanner capped off the half with a solo effort, giving Sacred Heart a comfortable 6-1 lead heading into the third.
The offensive surge continued in the third period as Araneo completed her hat trick, Bernhardt added her name to the scoresheet, and Tanner tallied her second goal of the day off a feed from
Taylor Farace. Tanner and Araneo each added one more in the fourth to seal the win.
Merrimack managed to grab a late fourth-period goal by Allison Lamphere, but it wasn't enough to slow down the Pioneers.
