FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University baseball team shut out Canisius to take the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) series,13-0, in seven innings. After a quiet first two games, the Pioneer's bats were hot totaling 10 hits and four home runs, one being a grand slam from
Chuck Tallman.

How it Happened
The Pioneers started scoring early adding a run in the first with an RBI double from
Peter Link.
With two outs,
Gavin Donohue led the Pios in a five-run inning in the second with a two-run homer to left field. In the next at bat,
Alex Ungar homered off the first pitch to center field. SHU reloaded two runners on base as
Steak Newman doubled to right center to plate
Dante D'Amore and Link for a 6-0 lead.
After a quiet third and fourth, leadoff batter \ Link squared up to add the third Pioneer home run extending SHU's 7-0 lead.
With bases loaded in the sixth inning, SHU worked back-to-back walks to plate two more. After a pitching change,
Chuck Tallman swung on the first pitch securing his first collegiate grand slam. Those runs secured the 13-run win forcing the mercy rule completing the game in seven innings
