STORRS, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University women's volleyball team stumbled in straight sets on the road at UConn on Sunday afternoon in Storrs, Conn.
Miliani Villarreal led the SHU defense with 11 digs, her 11th match with double-digit digs. On offense,
Ryleigh Short and
Abbie Hagedorn led the team with seven kills, while
Ava Roodbol added 21 assists.

How It Happened:
The opening set started with back-and-forth play before a 6-2 run by the home team gave UConn a 13-8 lead. SHU started to chip away, getting as close as three on multiple occasions, but the Huskies iced the frame with a 4-0 spurt to take a 25-18 win.
UConn surged out of the gates in set two, going up 7-2 quickly. A 6-1 SHU run calmed the home crowd and tied the score at 8-all. After trading points, the Huskies swung the momentum back in their favor with a 6-0 run, giving them enough cushion to secure a 25-19 victory.
The third set was the tightest of the three, as the lead changed multiple times through the first half of the frame. The Pioneers led 12-11 after 23 points and the score was tied at 18-18 after a 5-2 Pios' run. Unfortunately for Sacred Heart, the surging Huskies, who are 11-1 this season, won seven of the final nine points to secure the win in the set, 25-20, and a sweep.
