EDISON, N.J. — The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) announced its 2026 Men's Lacrosse Preseason Coaches' Poll and Preseason All-MAAC Team on Monday. Sacred Heart was picked third in the preseason poll, while three Pioneers earned preseason All-MAAC recognition.

Senior John Murray, a 2025 All-MAAC First Team selection, and senior Michael Amoruso, a 2025 All-MAAC Second Team honoree, both earned spots on the preseason team. Junior Mason Mac received his first career All-MAAC honor.

Sacred Heart enters the 2026 season after capturing the MAAC regular-season title in each of the past two years. The Pioneers earned the top seed in last season's MAAC Championship and hosted the postseason tournament, advancing to the title game for the second straight year. SHU defeated Quinnipiac in the semifinals before falling to Siena in the championship game.

Murray is coming off a breakout campaign in 2025, finishing second on the team in goals (23), third in assists (15), and second in points (38). He delivered in the clutch on multiple occasions, scoring overtime game-winning goals against Siena on March 15 and Marist on March 29. Murray recorded multi-point performances in all but one game last season, earning his first career All-MAAC First Team selection.

Amoruso secured his second All-MAAC honor after being named to the Second Team last season. A key contributor on the defensive unit, the long-stick midfielder ranked fourth on the team in caused turnovers (12) and second in ground balls (38). He also added one goal and one assist during his junior campaign.

Mac earned the first All-MAAC recognition of his career after appearing in every game last season as a short-stick defensive midfielder. He ranked third on the team in caused turnovers (17), collected 22 ground balls, and recorded one assist during his sophomore season.

Sacred Heart opens the 2026 season at home on Friday, February 6, hosting Stony Brook at 2:30 p.m. at Campus Field.
