Amanda Pape Earns Seventh Choice Hotels NEC Rookie of the Week

FAIRFIELD, CT (March 1, 2004) - Sacred Heart University women's basketball player Amanda Pape (Stamford, CT) was named Choice Hotels Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week for the week of February 23rd through 29th.
Pape earns her seventh rookie award, one off the league record set by Long Island's Kim MacMillan in the 1999-00 season, after averaging 20.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.5 steals and was a remarkable 22-26 from the free-throw line (84.6%) in two Pioneers wins. The freshman collected 17 points, five boards and three assists in a victory over intra-state rival Quinnipiac. In the double-overtime win at Monmouth, Pape netted a team-best 23 points, eight rebounds, four assists, four steals and a block. The Stamford, CT product has seven 20-point games this season and has reached double-figures in seven-straight. Pape leads all freshman and ranks seventh in the league in scoring (15.0 ppg), seventh in field-goal percentage (50.0%) and second in steals (2.54 spg).
Pape and the Pioneers take on Mount St. Mary's tonight at 7:00 pm in the season finale for both teams.
