
Senior Ashley Kohl Named Sacred Heart Athlete of the Week

FAIRFIELD, CT (March 2, 2004) - Senior women's basketball player Ashley Kohl (Palmyra, PA) was named the Sacred Heart University Athlete of the Week for the week of February 23rd through 29th.
The Palmyra, PA native put up big numbers from three-point range last week to lead Sacred Heart to two wins and the second seed in this weekend's tournament. Kohl led the Pioneers to a 64-53 win over Quinnipiac last Monday night, burying six-of-nine from downtown for a team-high 18 points. Kohl also picked up three rebounds to set a new career high. She kept her hot shooting going into the Monmouth game, hitting six-of-11 from deep, including five in the first half, leading Sacred Heart to a thrilling double overtime win, 99-94, over the Hawks. Kohl finished with 21 points, setting a new season-high for points. The senior guard also made four steals, a new career-high, as the Pioneers turned the Hawks over 41 times in the win. The win was the 70th in Kohl's four year career at Sacred Heart.
Kohl and the rest of the Pioneers will take on the #7 seeded Long Island Blackbirds this Friday, March 5th in the opening round of the NEC Tournament at Wagner.
